Johnnie's Pastrami
If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience in Culver City, look no further than Johnnie's Pastrami. Nestled at 4017 Sepulveda Blvd, this classic deli has been impressing customers since 1952, boasting a retro vibe that takes you back in time. Walking through the doors is like stepping into a 1950s movie diner, complete with functioning jukeboxes that add to the nostalgia.
As a food reviewer at Cafe Encore, I've had the pleasure of diving into the menu at Johnnie's Pastrami, and I must say, the culinary offerings live up to the hype. The main attraction is undoubtedly their hot pastrami sandwich, which many patrons claim is the best in Los Angeles. The pastrami here is seasoned to perfection—juicy, piled high, and remarkably not too salty, making each bite a savory delight.
Notable reviews from satisfied customers highlight the amazing hot pastrami served in generous portions, with complimentary sides including fries, cole slaw, and pickles. For those seeking variety, other hot sandwich options like the Fried Shrimp Sandwich and Fish Sandwich promise to cater to different palates. If you're a pickle aficionado, don't miss their selection—half-gallon jars are available for pickle lovers to take home.
Aside from the food, the atmosphere at Johnnie's Pastrami is worth noting. Diners have praised the friendly and attentive service, noting that many of the staff members have been there for decades. It exudes a family-oriented environment that makes you feel right at home, whether you're dining indoors or on their welcoming outdoor patio, complete with a cozy fire pit to enjoy on cooler days.

I particularly enjoyed my visit and was delighted to see that the delicacies lived up to the long-standing reputation. The chicken sandwich was described as “the best” by other diners, with light, flavorful batter that doesn’t overwhelm the chicken’s tender essence. This, combined with the welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service, makes Johnnie's Pastrami a hidden gem worth discovering.
In conclusion, if you haven't experienced a meal at Johnnie's Pastrami, you're truly missing out. From the rich history and ambiance to the mouthwatering dishes, every detail is curated for a memorable dining experience. So gather your friends and family, and make your way to Culver City for an unforgettable feast!

Amazing hot pastrami seasoned just right and not too salty served in their original dining room with working jukeboxes! Servers have been for decades and are very attentive. Highly recommend the deluxe plate which comes with fries, cole slaw and pickles.

Excellent across the board..... from the minute you step into the nicely set-up outdoor patio. You are greeted by friendly smiles & atmosphere. I grew up in Culver City & Johnnie's Pastrami is the 1st dining spot I highlight to everyone/anyone. On this occasion I took my wife & promised her the best pastrami sandwich she's ever had. Mission accomplished, she said dining area both inside/out were extremely clean & our server Carla provided us with exceptional customer service. The cooks are friendly & everyone is so welcoming. The food portions are plentiful & selection is great. If you haven't tried Johnnie's pastrami YOU ARE MISSING OUT! I promise you, you will be more than satisfied & you will share your experience with others!

I hadn't had a delicious hot pastrami sandwich from Johnnie's in over 30 years. The amount of meat and the flavors of the combination of the mustard, pickles and the peppers. The onion rings were fresh.

Pastrami was lean and over abundance of meat. Onion rings, yum yum. Chili, so/so, but chili is usually best made at home. Service was fast, friendly! Lots of history at this place, everyone should check it out.
